TURNING COMPLEXITY INTO LEARNING.

RETOURN is an EU Erasmus+ project focused on disaster management and recovery in the tourism sector. Partners from five European countries developed a training programme to help tourism professionals prepare for and respond to disruptive events.
THE CHALLENGE
Training content was provided by participating universities and project partners across Europe. My task was to turn this expert knowledge into a clear information architecture, an accessible interface and a working digital learning environment.
THE APPROACH

FROM CONTENT TO STRUCTURE
The challenge was not to simplify the subject matter itself, but to create a structure that made a broad body of training material easier to navigate and use. Content, modules and learning resources needed a consistent framework without losing the expertise behind them.
DESIGN TO IMPLEMENTATION
My role continued beyond information architecture and interface design into technical implementation. This allowed structure, visual design and the final digital experience to be considered as one connected system rather than separate deliverables.

THE THINKING BEHIND IT
Expert knowledge becomes useful when people can find, understand and work with it. For me, this project was about creating the structure between the knowledge itself and the people it was intended for.
